Mike Lang, who has coached the Trinity Lutheran girls basketball team the past 12 years, is taking over the boys basketball program at the school.
Lang replaces Brad Dickey, who resigned as boys basketball coach and athletics director following the season. Jason Roeder is taking over as athletics director.
Lang went 205-94 in 12 seasons with seven sectional titles and the program’s first regional championship this past season.
Former girls basketball assistant Darrin Keith has taken over as head girls coach. Kylie Weichman, who has been an assistant at Columbus East, will be an assistant girls coach for the Cougars.
Harrison headed to Franklin
Columbus East senior Chase Harrison has committed to continue his football career at Franklin College.
Harrison, a three-year starting linebacker, tied for the team lead with 96 tackles in the fall.
King commits to Calumet
Columbus North senior Bailey King has committed to continue her softball career at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
King leads the Class 4A No. 3 Bull Dogs with six doubles and is batting .394 with 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
North set for conference
Columbus North will compete in the Conference Indiana track and field on Friday and the Unified track on Saturday, both at Bloomington North.
Field events are scheduled to get underway at 5:45 p.m. Friday, with running events starting at 6 p.m. The Unified meet is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.
Tournament draws Sunday
The IHSAA will conduct its softball and baseball tournament pairings shows on Sunday night.
Softball pairings begin at 7 p.m., followed by baseball pairings at 8 p.m. Both will be livestreamed at ihsaatv.org
East wrestlers to sign
Two Columbus East wrestlers will participate in a signing ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the school’s commons.
Seniors Liam Krueger and Bo Wagner both plan to sign with Wabash.
Softball games rescheduled
Columbus North’s home softball with Terre Haute North that was postponed earlier this season has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. May 5.
Hauser’s home softball game with Edinburgh that had been postponed has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. May 10.
North girls to hold camp
Columbus North girls basketball will hold its summer youth camp May 30 through June 2.
Camp for incoming fifth-through-eighth graders will be from 1 to 3 p.m. daily with a cost of $75. Camp for incoming second-through-fourth graders will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. daily with a cost of $70.
