Jets win by forfeit

HOPE — Hauser picked up a pair of wins by forfeit when Southwestern (Shelby) did not have enough players to field for Wednesday’s Mid-Hoosier Conference game.

The two teams were scheduled to meet again today at Southwestern, but the Spartans have forfeited that game, as well. That leaves the Jets with a record of 9-3 overall, including 7-0 in the MHC.

Bears no-hit Olympians

SHELBYVILLE — One night after putting up 13 runs and 12 hits in a win against Jennings County, Columbus East was no-hit by Shelbyville in an 11-0, five-inning loss.

The Golden Bears scored five runs in the third and six in the fourth off Megan Kennedy. The Olympians (9-6) committed three errors.

Eagles fall to Arrows

SULLIVAN — Class 2A No. 8 Sullivan held Brown County to two hits in a 9-3 Western Indiana Conference decision.

Savannah Oden and Ava Stogsdill had singles for the Eagles (2-8, 1-4).

Panthers blank Cougars

KNIGHTSTOWN — South Decatur trailed only 3-0 after two innings, but Knightstown scored 10 in the third on its way to a 17-0, five-inning victory.

Molly Eden and Brooklyn Powers had the lone hits for the Cougars (2-9).

Jennings snaps skid

BLOOMINGTON — Jennings County snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 10-4 win at Bloomington South.

Austin Cohee went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Zane Weinhorst went 2 for 2, Logan Napier went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Lane Zohrlaut went 2 for 4 and Cole Sigler had three RBIs for Jennings (4-9). Sam Burkman pitched 6 2/3 innings in picking up the win.

Arrows top Eagles

SULLIVAN — Sullivan scored six times in the second inning and went on to post a 12-2, five-inning WIC win against Brown County.

Four different players had a hit for the Eagles (2-9, 1-5), with Noah Lewis smacking a double.

GIRLS TENNIS

Lancers down Spartans

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 MHC win against Southwestern (Shelby).

Jessica Walsh beat Ella Rice 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Zoey Sida topped McKinzie Delton 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Izzy Richardson defeated Tori Burkhart 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Mia Dodson and Lily Turner won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Edinburgh’s Jillian Turner and Gracie Myers fell 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
