Sharon Ann Jarrett, 80, of Columbus, passed away peacefully while asleep at home Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Sharon was born October 3, 1942, the daughter of Edgar and Addie M. Spears Walden.

Ms. Jarrett worked several years at both Alan Industries and Golden Foundry. She enjoyed scrapbooking, making cards and shopping for antiques. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. Spending time with her grandbabies was a priority and something that she looked forward to often. As a loving mother, she liked to cook for her children. Stuffed peppers and casseroles, especially tuna casseroles, were among some of the favorite dishes that she would prepare for her daughters. Sharon had always enjoyed visiting the Smokey Mountains. She will be missed by those that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughters, Lori (Larry) Youree, Kelly (Jeff Colford) Jarrett, both of Indianapolis, Tracie Jarrett (Steve Burton) of Edinburgh, Jackie (Troy) Wood of Columbus; grandchildren, Josh Jarrett, Casey (Matt) Watkins, Sam Murphy, Caden Colford, Lily Carlstrom; great-grandchildren, Kellen McKinney, Duke Watkins, Bennett Watkins; sisters, Susie (Ken) Greenwell of St. Louis, MO, Becky Ponder of Taylorsville, Marsha Williams of North Vernon; brother, Darrel (Terry) Porter of Mooresville; sister-in-law, Deb Porter, also of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Porter.

In keeping with Sharon’s request, cremation will take place and a celebration of life gathering will be held Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. There will be no formal memorial service.
