Dates and times are now set for this year’s baseball and softball sectional sites involving Bartholomew County schools.
In the Class 4A softball sectional at Columbus North, the host Bull Dogs will square off against Columbus East in the second first-round game at 8 p.m. May 23. The winner of the North-East game will meet Whiteland in the second semifinal at around 8 p.m. May 25. The championship is slated for 7 p.m. May 26.
In the Class 2A softball sectional at Brownstown Central, Hauser will play Switzerland County in the first round on the second day of the seven-team sectional at 5:30 p.m. May 23. The winner will play the Brownstown-Brown County winner in the second semifinal at 7:30 p.m. May 24. The championship is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 25.
In the Class 4A baseball sectional at East Central, the host Trojans will play Columbus East in the first game at 6 p.m. May 24. The winner will play the Whiteland-Shelbyville winner in the first semifinal at 6 p.m. May 26, and Columbus North and Franklin will meet in the second semifinal at around 8 p.m. The championship is scheduled for noon May 29.
In the Class 2A baseball sectional at Austin, Hauser will play Southwestern (Hanover) in the final quarterfinal game on the second day of the eight-team 2A Austin Sectional at around 7:30 p.m. May 25. The winner will meet Switzerland County or Austin in the second semifinal at around noon May 29, with the championship scheduled for 7 p.m. that evening.
Girls tennis draw set for Monday
The 48th Annual IHSAA Girls Tennis State Tournament draw is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday. The announcement will be livestreamed on IHSAAtv.org
Tennis sectional action begins on Wednesday, with Columbus North hosting Columbus East, Hauser, Brown County and Edinburgh. North, East, Hauser and Edinburgh will be in the girls track sectional at Franklin on Tuesday and the boys track sectional at North on May 18.
