EVANSTON, Illinois — The National Merit Scholarship Corp. announced this year’s National Merit $2.500 Scholarship winners.
They were chosen from a pool of more than $15,000 finalists in the national scholarship program. Winners are selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors, and include an evaluation of academic records including difficulty level of subjects studied and grades earned, PSAT scores, contributions and leadership in school and community activities, a finalist essay and a recommendation from their high school.
Local winners include:
Columbus North High School: Esha V. Aras and Benjamin W. Genter.
Columbus East High School: Anna Liimatta
Shelbyville High School: Isabella Bradburn
