Columbus police officers arrested a local man on several felony charges after narcotics and drug paraphernalia were located during a traffic stop on Sunday night.
Shortly before 9 p.m., CPD officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near 8th Street and Washington Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
During the traffic stop, a police canine alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located drugs and drug paraphernalia including a digital scale inside the car, Harris said. After arresting Dustin A. Ebenkamp, 23, of 718 Cottage Ave., Columbus, the officers conducted a search of his clothing and located approximately three grams of methamphetamine that he had concealed in his pants, Harris said.
Ebenkamp was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on the following preliminary charges:
- Dealing in methamphetamine (Level 4 felony)
- Dealing in marijuana (Level 6 felony)
- Possession of methamphetamine (Level 6 felony)
- Possession of marijuana (Class B misdemeanor)
- Possession of paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor)
Ebenkamp was being held in lieu of $158,500 bond in the Bartholomew County Jail.
