BASEBALL

North blanks Fishers

FISHERS — Blake Osbourne fired a one-hit shutout Monday night to lead Columbus North to a 5-0 upset win at Fishers.

The Bull Dogs (14-9) jumped on the board with three runs in the first and added two in the fourth.

Osbourne struck out nine and did not walk a batter. Luke Harmon went 2 for 3, and Trenton McCain had two RBIs for North.

Jets rout Jackets

HOPE — Hauser scored eight times in the first two innings and went on to post a 14-1, five-inning Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Morristown.

Zayne McCanlis threw a three-hitter and did not allow an earned run for the Jets (12-11-1, 9-2). Holden Pittman went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Nathan Worland went 2 for 3 with a triple. Simeon Wasil went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs and Stryker Gill had two RBIs.

East falls to Bulldogs

NEW ALBANY — Columbus East scored twice in the top of the first, but New Albany rallied for an 11-2 victory.

Five different players had singles for the Olympians (4-18). Blake Borkhardt, Ethan Harris and Eli Tindell combined on an eight-hitter.

SD clinches title share

GREENSBURG — North Decatur scored three times in the top of the first, but Class A No. 10 South Decatur rallied for a 7-5 win to clinch at least a share of the MHC title.

Colby Rathburn went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Jensen McDonald went 3 for 3, J.P. Scudder went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Dale Peters went 2 for 4 for the Cougars (14-5, 10-1).

Scudder pitched the final six innings to pick up the win in relief of Avery Seegers.

Panthers edge Stars

BEDFORD — Jennings County pushed across a run in the top of the eighth to pull out a 2-1 extra-inning win at Bedford North Lawrence.

Keegan Manowitz and Sam Burkman combined on a six-hitter for the Panthers (10-14). Lane Zohrlaut went 2 for 3, and Austin Byford went 2 for 4.

Mohawks top Lancers

WALDRON — Edinburgh outhit Waldron 7-6, but the Mohawks claimed a 7-4 MHC victory.

Dakota Graw went 2 for 3, and Jacob Myers went 2 for 4 for the Lancers (3-19, 0-11). Gabe Bennett and Milas Burkman combined on a six-hitter and allowed only one earned run.

SOFTBALL

Crusaders drop finale

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus Christian wrapped up its season with a 15-0, four-inning loss at Horizon Christian.

Mara Nickerson went 2 for 2 for the Crusaders (1-5).

Lancers win by forfeit

WALDRON — Waldron forfeited to Edinburgh, leaving the Lancers 11-11 overall and 8-2 in the MHC.

The Lancers are expecting to host Waldron on Thursday. Edinburgh will make up its MHC game with Morristown that was rained out on Friday if the two teams meet in the sectional semifinals.

Chargers clip Cougars

GREENSBURG — North Decatur scored 10 times in the first inning and went on to hand South Decatur a 23-1 MHC loss.

Three different players had singles for the Cougars (4-17, 3-8).

Milan bests Trinity

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran matched Milan with eight hits, but the Indians pulled out a 5-3 victory.

Olivia Cain went 2 for 3 with a double, and Bailey Tabeling went 2 for 4 for the Cougars (12-10). Grace Lance threw an eight-hitter.

Trojans top Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County closed the regular season with a 4-1 loss to East Central.

Kaydence Lowman beat Elizabeth Kirchgassner 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (3-14).

Jennings’ Tatum Brown fell to Payton Pies 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Nay Garriga lost to Kelsey Scholl 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Mia Silvey and Gabi Morin fell to Ava Kraus and Olivia Rosemeyer 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Makenzey Carr and Trina Collins lost to Brooke Carpenter and Madison Noel 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Braves nip Lancers

BROWNSTOWN — Edinburgh took a 3-2 loss at Brownstown Central in its final tuneup for Wednesday’s sectional matchup at Columbus North.

Zoey Sida beat Leah Pottschmidt 6-4, 3-6, (10-6) at No. 2 singles, and Izzy Richardson topped Jenna Bolte 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (5-10).

Edinburgh’s Jessica Walsh fell to Brynn Burton 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Jillian Turner and Gracie Myers lost to Kaitlyn WIlliams and Bella Brown 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Lily Turner and Mia Dodson lost to Audrey Scarlett and Genna Preston 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
