Gail Marie Perry Saul

HARBOR CITY, CA

Gail Marie Perry Saul, born 22 April 1938 in Columbus, Indiana, has died of natural causes on 19 June 2023 at her home in Harbor City, California. She lived 85 years with great adventures and a deep love for all God’s creations. Gail always believed that the best was yet to come and did what she could to enjoy the life she was living in the meantime. Typical of the great Girl Scout that she was, she left the world better than she found it.

A fiercely independent woman with a great smile, Gail did things her way. Her strong sense of right and wrong provided borders that created a safe harbor for the people around her. She devoted herself to causes near to her heart including Christian Science, singing in chorales and Sweet Adeline choirs, and staying in touch with friends and family. She enjoyed reading, computer games, bridge, and travel. A Republic/Northwest Airlines/Delta retiree after 20 years of service she was able to fly nearly anywhere. Her occupations included medical assistant, and computer programmer. After retiring she started her own genealogy-related business, “It’s about Me!” conducting and videotaping interviews about a person’s life and thoughts.

Raised in Hatboro, PA, she graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School in 1955 before attending Wilmington College and Pennsylvania State University as a biology major. Nursing school at Louisiana State University in 1968 was followed in 1978 by computer programming at the Brown Institute. Over the years she resided in Hatboro, PA, Turrialba, Costa Rica, New Orleans, LA. St. Paul, MN, Columbus, IN, Salinas, CA, and Harbor City, CA. Along the way Gail married twice: Manuel Ibanez from 1957 – 1970, and Herman Saul, Jr. from 1973 – 1993.

Left now to celebrate Gail’s life are friends and family including her children Juana Ibanez (Robert Baughn), Vincent Ibanez (Susan), and William Ibanez (Angel), her stepson Rock Saul, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, her brother Noel Alan Perry, three nieces (and spouses), three nephews (and spouses), many great-nieces/nephews and much-loved multiple generations of cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Verle Cochran Perry and William Redford Perry, her brother Robert Redford Perry (Charlotte), and her stepson Mark Saul. Keeping track of her family, including those she informally adopted as family, was one of her passions and her love lifted us all.

Burial services will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana on August 1, 2023, at 10 am. Gail would be tickled pink if you should think of her and then give to the charity of your choice to pay forward the blessings of life. Her Facebook page has a quote that effectively summarizes her pureness of spirit: “I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells, I honor the place in you, which is of Love, of Integrity, of Wisdom, and of Peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One. Namaste”
