Mr. Michael L. Henry, age 74, of Columbus, Indiana formerly of Madison entered this life on February 22, 1949 in Jefferson County, Indiana and graduated in 1967 from Madison Consolidated High School. He was the loving son of Dean Addison and Freida Mae Kemper Henry. On September 26, 1969 Michael was united in marriage to Rosetta Diane Waters at the Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Madison. This happy union of 46 years was blessed with sons, Travis and Trent. He was inducted into the United States Army on January 16, 1969 during the Vietnam War era and worked as a medical corpsman he was then transferred to the Nation Guard and rose to the rate of Staff Sergeant and retired on February 22, 2009 receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Army Reserve Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Indiana National Guard Long Service Medal, Indiana National Guard Emergency Service Medal, Indiana Commendation Medal, and the Indiana Military Volunteer Emblem. After retirement he worked for the Jefferson County Highway Department in Madison. He and Rosetta resided in Clark and Floyd counties for 16 years moving back to Madison and then moved to Columbus in 2014. After Rosetta became disabled he took loving care of her until her death. He enjoyed being outdoors, watching IU Basketball, NASCAR and wrestling. He held membership in the Kent Christian Church, the Columbus Moose Lodge No. 398, the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion, the Madison VFW Post No. 1969, and the Columbus American Legion Post No. 24. Michael died on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at his home in Columbus, Indiana. Michael will be missed by his loving his sons, Trent A. Henry and his wife, Abbie of Columbus, Indiana, Travis D. Henry and his wife, Megan of Franklin, Indiana; his grandchildren, Ryan Henry, Trenton Henry, Trey Henry, Dylan Henry, Paisley Everett, Lacey Everett, and Kinsley Henry; his sister, Linda Rea and her husband, Allen of Columbus, Indiana; his sisters in law, Constance A. Henry of Lexington, Indiana and Shirley Waters of New Washington, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Addison Henry died on April 3, 1961; his mother, Freida Mae Kemper Henry, died August 1, 2004; his beloved wife of 46 years, Rosetta Diane Waters Henry, died October 7, 2015; his brother, Ronald Dean Henry, died April 5, 2013. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Frank McGee at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Lick Branch Cemetery near Deputy, Indiana.

Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. A final salute with military honors will be provided by the United States Army Ceremonial Unit and the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
