Mr. David Lee Koontz, age 71, of Commiskey, Indiana entered this life on January 11, 1952 in Columbus, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Jack David and Noel Carolyn Taylor Koontz. He was raised in the Nazarene faith in Columbus and graduated from high school there in 1970. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany and was honorably discharged. On May 30, 1998 he was united in marriage to Sharon Lee Morgan in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This happy union blended two families together and became a dad to Sharon’s children. He worked for over 30 years at Macbeth Hardwoods in Edinburgh in sales and orders. He also had worked as a security guard with Camp Atterbury. He held membership in the Madison VFW Post 1969. He loved to bowl, fish, hunt, shoot guns, woodworking, and being with his grandchildren. David died on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 10:20 a.m. at his home near Commiskey, Indiana. David will be missed by his loving daughters, Candie Maddox and her husband, Aaron of Dupont, Indiana, Dawn Cox of Dupont, Indiana; his son, Randy Wilson and his wife, Kellie of Madison, Indiana; 15-grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 6-great great grandchildren; his brothers, Alan Koontz and his wife, Jackie of Columbus, Indiana, Leonard “Lenny” Koontz of Seymour, Indiana; his sisters, Sherri Pearson and her husband, Doug of Scipio, Indiana, Patty Webb of North Vernon, Indiana, Lisa Steele and her husband, Eddie of Kokomo, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack David Koontz, his mother, Noel Carolyn Taylor Koontz, his step son, Richard Cox, died August 15, 2012, and his wife of 24 years, Sharon Lee Morgan Koontz, died November 10, 2022. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., by Pastor Scott Kollman at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Visitation Sunday from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the David Koontz Remembrance Fund.
