COLUMBUS
Karla J. Tibbs, 63, of Columbus passed from this life on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 4:39 p.m. at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Karla was born on December 21, 1959, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Beverly J. Matthews Hiser. On June 30, 1984, she married Tim P. Tibbs.
Karla worked over 43 years as a Human Resource Manager at CommuniCare. She always enjoyed playing bingo and scratch off lottery tickets. Some of her greatest joys were family trips to Tennessee to the mountains and above all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Tim P. Tibbs of Columbus; children, Andy (Nikki) Tibbs of Columbus and Mandee (Nikkilas) Tibbs of Columbus; grandchildren, Brittany (Wes) Tibbs-Meyers, Trey Creamer, Dane Tibbs, Ellie Tibbs, Myleigh Tibbs, Aaliya Johnson; sisters, Kathy (Jon Palmer) Morin, Melinda (Dennis) Forney; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Beverly and Johnie Hiser; brother, Marty Joe Matthews; and her favorite uncle, Harry Matthews.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Adam Carrigan officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and also from 9:00 a.m. till time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
In keeping with Mrs. Tibbs’ wishes cremation will follow services.
In memory of Mrs. Tibbs memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
