COLUMBUS
Charles Russell Reece, 71, of Columbus, passed from this life at 5:28 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at IU Health Methodist Hospital.
Mr. Reece was born May 12, 1952, in Mountain City, Tennessee, the son of Charles F. and Suma C. Lowe Reece.
He married Louise Sizemore November 16, 1984.
Charles had been working as an inspector at Cummins Engine Company for the past 47 years.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and enjoyed spending time outside and gardening.
Survivors include his wife Louise of 39 years; sons, Darrell Sizemore of Florida, Jeffery (Melissa Acton) Collins of Seymour and Greg L. (Alice) Collins of Columbus; grandchildren, Leslie (Anthony) Harper, Derrick (Jasmine Wells) Collins, Jessica (Deanna) Collins and Jack Thomas Collins; step-grandchildren, Laney Acton, Piper (Cameron David) Shoemaker and Nicholas Wedyck; a great-granddaughter, Octavia Collins and siblings, Terry, Jeff, Judy, Kathy and Lisha.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Audrey.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 p.m. to time of service.
Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
