My husband and I were in Columbus, Indiana, a few weeks ago. We were at Walmart after grocery shopping and locked the keys in our daughter’s SUV with the engine running. I called the police for help but was told they don’t do lock-outs.
I explained we were in our 80s and were from out of state in our daughter’s SUV with engine running and was told again “We do not do lockouts.” I was told to call the insurance company. The insurance info was locked in the car.
We called our son-in-law and grandson. They left their jobs and came to our rescue.
While the guys were trying to unlock the SUV, a Columbus police car came onto the parking lot past us and I stopped him. He said he couldn’t help us as it was against protocol. I told him the situation but it didn’t matter.
I am so sorry that helping your fellow man does not exist in Columbus, Indiana.
