Walmart had a re-grand opening for the remodel of its Supercenter in Columbus, part of celebrations across 30 states.
A ribbon cutting ceremony, giveaways and the unveiling of a community-inspired mural by artist James Balkovek were held.
In the past two years, Walmart invested nearly $9 billion to upgrade more than 1,400 stores. Improvements were made to the grocery department and pickup and delivery areas, new displays, a relocated pharmacy with private screening rooms, enhanced auto care center, remodeled and modernized restrooms, new signage and flooring, and parking lot improvements.
As part of the ceremonies, the company presented $3,000 to the local Fraternal Order of Police, $2,500 to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul of Brown County and $1,000 to Reins to Recovery.
The store’s new mural is an installation featuring Columbus landmarks including the Eos sculpture, the Robert Stewart Bridge and North Christian Church.
