COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Irvin Gene Adams, 81, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Willow Crossing Health &Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Adams was born in Madison, Indiana, March 6, 1942, the son of Emery A. and Grace Giddings Adams.
Mr. Adams graduated from Dupont High School in Jefferson County, Indiana. He was a custodian at First Christian Church in Columbus retiring in 2008 after 36 1/2 years of service. He was a member of the Columbus Free Methodist Church.
Mr. Adams is survived by his sister, Opal Seeley of Columbus; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Adams of Columbus; nieces and nephews, Judith (Stephen) Cecil of Columbus, Jeff (Gretchen) Seeley of Columbus, Dennis (Stephanie) Adams of Columbus, Robert Irwin and Larry Ford; and many great-nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Grace Adams; brothers, Paul, Donald and George Adams; and sisters, Ruth Ford, Florence Whitham and Helen Irwin.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street, Pastor Mara Vetters will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Adams will be laid to rest on the family plot at Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Free Methodist Church.
