Jennings County High School’s audition-only show choir, A Touch of Class, recently performed the national anthem at an Indianapolis Pacers game. This was a wonderful way to spend their last day of Christmas break.
The Panthers took to the court to sing before the game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, Jan. 3, performing under the direction of JCSH choir director Aaron Brooks.
After the performance, the students got to enjoy the rest of the game along with family and friends. Junior Patryk Young said that his favorite part of the experience was “not only the Pacers’ win, but the group bonding that took place on the bus ride and during the game.” A Touch of Class witnessed the Pacers win against the Buck in a 142-130 game.
The group sang the national anthem at a Pacers game in March of 2023 and performers happy to be back. The Panthers hope to return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to perform again in 2025.
Performing in front of more than 15,000 people is a big accomplishment. Junior Bella Hamersly said that this experience taught her to “perform well under pressure and keep calm.” Young also added that he “enjoyed seeing how much TOC has improved this year.”
This was a truly unforgettable performance for the members of A Touch of Class. The group has many performances scheduled for 2024. The future looks bright for these young voices.
