Susan Marie Phelps, known to her loved ones as Susie and Smoo, passed away on January 5 th , 2024, at the age of 43, in Columbus, IN.
She was born on May 20, 1980 at St Mary’s Hospital in Livonia, MI. She is survived by her parents, Rick and Karen Morphew, brothers Rick (Jessica), and John, niece Jillian and nephew Ryan.
Susan was an amazing woman who left a lasting impact on those who knew her. She attended Columbus High School and received her degree in psychology from Indiana University. She began her career at the age of 16 with Sterling Industries. After 17 years, she moved to Sacoma, as their Purchasing Manager,
and was then pursued in 2020 by Master Power, as their Materials Manager. She believed God arranged this, as she
loved working there and they were so supportive throughout her struggle to live.
In her free time, Susan enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. She loved her 2 precious German Shepards, Calvin and Henry, with all her heart. She had a passion for studying the Bible and was an avid reader of a variety of genres. She also loved watching movies and going to plays and dinner theaters, and visiting art museums. Susan took pleasure in cooking meals, Mediterranean style, and she grew her own herbs. She found joy in rainy days, taking long walks, bird watching, and fishing.
Susan’s faith was an important part of her life. She worshipped at Journey Church in Franklin until 2020 and then at St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus, Indiana.
A memorial service in honor of Susan will be held at St Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 27 th , at 10:30.

Susan Marie Phelps will be deeply missed by Rick and Karen Morphew, brothers John and Rick and his family, as well as all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
