Russell Earl White

Russell Earl White, 83, of Scipio, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Born July 21, 1940, in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Isaac William and Goldie Marie (Roberts) White. He married Brenda Joyce (Wills) White on October 11, 1980, in Hayden; she survives.

Russell attended school at Sand Creek and completed his schooling in the military where he served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1965. He worked at Batesville Casket Company as a machine operator and foreman for 29 years and for 5 years at ADESA. He was a member of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W., Am Vets Post #7, Hayden Baptist Church, and American Baptist Men. He served as a VA driver for Jennings County for three years. Russell loved playing golf and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Jeffery A. White, James A. White, and Steven E. (Nicole) White all of Greensburg, John D. White of Elizabethtown, William C. (Amy) Tuttle of Columbus, Dennis L. (Angie Beach) Tuttle of Scipio, and Paul D. (Rena) White of Fairland; seventeen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carol E., Robert L., Donald E., and Richard White; and sister, Judith I. White Howard.

A funeral service for Russell will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Mark Sorrels officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Scipio Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home in honor of Russell to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) or Hayden Baptist Church.
