Dickie Littrell

Dickie Littrell, 75, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Indianapolis. Dickie was born September 3, 1948, in Moss, Tennessee to Carl Littrell and Creola Rich Littrell. Dickie was a graduate of Columbus High School, Class of 1966. He was united in marriage to Sheila Harden Littrell on April 3, 1980.

Dickie was a United States Army Veteran and served one tour during the Vietnam War. He had a very special connection to his grandmother, Ma Dessie at this time in his life, and she was the only one he called during his tour to Vietnam. He was a loving and giving man to all who knew him, with a touch of grouch added in there for spice. He was an avid card player, a collector of everything, a huge IU fan, and loved his westerns, especially Gun Smoke. Dickie was a member of the Eagles Lodge #741, the Moose Lodge # 398, the VFW #1987, and the American Legion Post 24.

Dickie is survived by his wife Sheila, his children, Shawn A. Gilley, Jason Littrell, and Angela (John) Hilderbrand; his brother, Eddy Littrell; sisters, Diana Fields and Sherry (Robert) Pile, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jamie Payne.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2024, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Fields officiating. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Dickie will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard or the Children’s Heart Foundation through the funeral home.
