Jennings father, son arrested on meth, gun charges

Jennings County sheriff’s deputies said they recovered drug and weapons evidence after executing a search warrant on a county residence Feb. 16.

JENNINGS COUNTY — A father and son are facing multiple felony drug and firearm charges after they were arrested earlier this month, according to a press release from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Jennings County SWAT team went an address near the Jackson-Jennings County line in the early morning hours of Feb. 16, where they arrested Brian K. Culp, 62, and his son Brian C. Culp, 37, without incident, the department said.

Deputies said they observed the odor of illegal drugs and a loaded firearm in plain view of the residence, and noted the elder Culp is a convicted felon who is barred form possessing a firearm. Deputies applied for, and were granted, a search warrant for the residence.

In searching the residence, deputies said they located drug paraphernalia, eight firearms, 6.2 ounces of methamphetamine, and nearly 2 pounds of marijuana. Both suspects were transported to Jennings County Jail where they are facing the following charges:

Brian K. Culp: Dealing in methamphetamine, Level 2 felony; warrant charges of dealing methamphetamine, Level 3 felony, four counts as a Level 4 felony; and two counts each as a Level 5 felony and a Level 6 felony; felon in possession of a firearm, Level 5 felony; possession of a legend drug, Level 6 felony; maintaining a common nuisance, Level 6 felony; and misdemeanor counts of dealing marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Brian C. Culp: Aiding, inducing, or causing dealing methamphetamine, Level 2 felony; warrant charges of aiding, inducing, or causing dealing methamphetamine, two counts as a Level 4 felony; and maintaining a common nuisance, Level 6 felony.

In addition to the Jennings County SWAT Team, other responders involved included Jennings County E-911, Jennings County EMS and Jennings County Narcotics Division.
