Stryker Gill

MALE

Stryker Gill // Hauser sophomore baseball player

Gill went 3 for 5 with a double, a triple and three RBIs in a 14-3 win at Rising Sun; 3 for 5 with a triple and three RBIs in a 15-0 win at Southwestern (Shelby) and 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs in an 11-1 win against Southwestern. On Saturday, he went 1 for 4 and allowed two earned runs and struck out 11 in 6 2/3 innings in a 6-4 loss to Jac-Cen-Del.

His performance last week: “I hit pretty well and fielded pretty well. We also played pretty good solid baseball and won a few games.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually hit the day before or after practice and try to get in the right mindspace when I’m at school during the day.”

Favorite drink: “Coke Zero”

Favorite food: “Chicken nachos”

Favorite class: “Agriculture”

Favorite sports team: “Tennessee baseball”

Favorite athlete: “My brother (Landon Asher)”

Role model: “My brother (Landon Asher)”

Best advice: “Trust yourself and trust the work you’ve put in and rely on all the things you’ve done to prepare for that moment.”

Athletics goal: “To get a few college offers (for baseball or basketball) before graduating.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Florida. It’s a place that we’ve been, and I’ve always liked it there.”

Bailee Scruggs // Columbus North sophomore softball player

Bailee Scruggs

Scruggs had a single and struck out eight in a 4-1 loss at Floyd Central and had a hit and struck out five in a 9-1 loss to Living Water HomeSchool. On Saturday, she had two RBIs and threw a complete game in an 8-5 win against Franklin, went 2 for 3 in an 11-2 loss to McCutcheon and went 2 for 3 and struck out nine in a 6-4 win against Franklin Central.

Her performance last week: “I guess we could have done better, but we lost a bunch of players. But coach kept us motivated and kept us going. He really keeps up our spirits during tough games.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I have my dad stretch my arm before every game.”

Favorite drink: “Dr. Pepper”

Favorite food: “Any kind of burgers”

Favorite class: “Psychology”

Favorite sports team: “Michigan or North Carolina”

Favorite athlete: “Jennie Finch”

Role model: “(Ohio State softball player) Melina Wilkinson”

Best advice: “If you do something wrong, make any type of adjustment.’’

Athletics goal: “To do better than I was the game before.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Italy. I love the architecture. I think it’s so beautiful over there.”
