COLUMBUS
Robert Truman Willard, 77, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.
Mr. Willard was born in Lebanon, Kentucky, August 5, 1946, the youngest child born to Charles Roy Burton Willard and Ara Cooley Willard. On February 18, 1972, he married Sylvia Ann Orberson; she survives.
Mr. Willard had worked at Engelking Pattern early in life and he retired in 2012 from Dolly Madison Bakery. He was also a longtime farmer.
Mr. Willard was of the Apostolic faith. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan and he was also a Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed horse racing and he will be remembered for always loving his family and for being a great Pap.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sylvia; daughters, Trudie (Jason) Willard-Stroup of Taylorsville and Heather (David) Zettles of South Carolina; grandchildren, Lyndsey Willard (Jordan Bowman) of Columbus, Briana Young of Taylorsville, Joshua Williams of Columbus and Matthew Williams of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Brilyn, Piper, and Tatum Young; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Willard was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; the Reverend Charles Kelley and the Reverend Jonathan Stephenson will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday. Mr. Willard will be laid to rest at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
