Landmark Columbus Foundation has announced the team of seven curatorial partners that will steer the direction of the fifth cycle of Exhibit Columbus.

These curatorial partners form the core of the curatorial team and are charged with creating and advancing the theme of this cycle of Exhibit Columbus.

Richard McCoy, founding executive director called the announcement “a milestone event.”

“We are thrilled to have such an inspiring group of curators for the fifth Cycle of Exhibit Columbus,” McCoy said. “The Landmark team has worked to reimagine how Exhibit Columbus can be used to explore challenges in the heart of one of America’s most celebrated design cities and selected curatorial partners that will excel in this work. This will be a very special two-year cycle that culminates with the (new architectural) exhibition opening in August 2025.”

The partners include Columbus native Mila Lipinski of Duvall Decker of Jackson, Mississippi, serving as the chair of the group. Also on board are: Joseph Altshuler and Zack Morrison of Could Be Design in Chicago and Urbana-Champaign, Illinois; Rasul Mowatt of North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina; Elizabeth Blazius and Jonathan Solomon of Preservation Futures, Chicago, Illinois; and poet and filmmaker Too Black of Indianapolis.

The 2024–25 cycle of Exhibit Columbus will publicly launch on June 26 with a Community Kickoff event from 3 to 5 p.m. at Helen Haddad Hall in downtown Columbus. The curators and Landmark Columbus Foundation staff will be introduced in a free, public format while launching a community engagement process. This is the first event of the two-year Exhibit Columbus cycle designed to shape how this dynamic program will explore compelling ideas to empower small- and medium-sized communities to make strategic investments in architecture, art, and design to celebrate culture and improve quality of place.

Launched in 2016 as a program of the nonprofit organization Landmark Columbus Foundation, Exhibit Columbus is an internationally-recognized exploration of community, architecture, art, and design that celebrates the modern legacy of Columbus — all through a two-year cycle of events that will take place: a symposium (Oct. 24 and 25), installation design presentations on Feb. 21-22 and culminating in the architectural exhibition Aug. 15-Nov. 30, 2025.

The kickoff will begin with short introductions from each curatorial partner, followed by a coffee and conversation break. Attendees will be able to engage with a large physical model of downtown Columbus and document their relationship to familiar sites around downtown.

Individual biographies of the curatorial partners are listed on the Exhibit Columbus website at exhibitcolumbus.org.

In the second portion, attendees will engage with the curatorial partners and Landmark team as they explore potential locations and partners for this cycle. From these discussions, the curatorial partners will begin to form a theme for this cycle.
