Columbus Police Department hires new officer

The Columbus Police Department this week welcomed its newest officer, Thomas “Brandon” Brooks (CPD badge number 302).

Columbus Corporate Counsel Alex Whitted swore in Brooks at the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting Monday.

Brooks is a Columbus native and graduate of Columbus East High School. Prior to coming to CPD, Brooks was working as an automotive technician.

In the coming weeks, he will undergo training with CPD instructors before joining the other four new CPD officers at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in August.
