Christine Shipley

COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Christine Shipley, passed peacefully from this life to begin eternal life in paradise with Jesus at the age of 89 on November 7, 2024, in Columbus, Indiana. Born on July 29, 1935, in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, Christine was the heartwarming embodiment of love and devotion throughout her life.

Christine’s legacy is cherished by her children: Pam, Dan and Brenda Shipley. Her grandchildren, Erin Jenkins, Sarah Oakley, and Colin Shipley, will fondly remember her nurturing presence and the life lessons she imparted. Christine’s 6 great-grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Casey, Anika, Sola and Remi brought great joy into her life. Christine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Marriot Nathan Shipley, to whom she was a devoted wife for 62 incredible years, her parents Orban and Fanare Edwards, and eight dear siblings.

As a homemaker, Christine dedicated her life to the well-being of her family and the service of her community. She was an active and respected member of the Columbus First Assembly of God Church for over half a century, where her contributions as a Sunday School teacher, Missionettes leader, and Women’s Ministry participant touched countless lives.

Christine’s generous spirit was most visible in her love for cooking and sharing meals, through which she blessed many during times of need. Her garden was her sanctuary, the flowers and plants a testament to her nurturing touch.

To all who knew her, Christine was a source of unwavering love and support. Her faith-filled journey has left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and community, and her memory will be treasured forever.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Keystone Hospice and all of the staff and caregivers at Willow Crossing. Christine’s journey was eased by everyone’s selfless care and understanding.

Funeral services for Christine will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday November 17, 2024 in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastors Joel Paine and Rick Glowacki officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Christine will be laid to rest with her husband in the Indiana Veteran’s Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
