Columbus Police Department Lt. Matt Harris was named the 2024 DARE Indiana Law Enforcement Executive of the Year. This prestigious honor recognizes Harris’ exceptional commitment to educating and empowering youth in our community through the DARE program.
Harris, who has taught DARE for 22 years, was nominated for the award by Officer Zachary Romero, who highlighted his dedication, leadership, and positive influence in our schools and community.
On Thursday, Harris traveled to the Indiana State Capitol, where he was formally presented with the award.
This award highlights Harris’ long-standing dedication to making a difference in the lives of students and families, Columbus police said. His years of teaching DARE reflect his commitment to building trust and creating a safer, stronger community, the department said.
