COLUMBUS, Ind. — City officials on Monday night consented to a project agreement with a Bloomington-based developer for a five-story mixed-use development to be located near the corner of 11th and Washington streets.
The Columbus Redevelopment Commission unanimously approved the agreement with Rubicon Development, along with a resolution to create a separate TIF bounded by the project site, as redevelopment has done for other mixed-use developments in recent years, including The Taylor and the development at Sixth and Washington streets.
The agreement includes a subsidy of $6.4 million to cover a financing gap for the $30.9 million project, which will include apartments, commercial space and a parking garage on three parcels at 921 Jackson St. and 1008 and 1020 Washington streets.
The contribution still needs to be approved by Columbus City Council members because it is a city expenditure greater than $500,000.
