Jackson County sheriff deputies investigate fatal accident

SEYMOUR — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Friday in Hamilton Township.
The crash was reported in the 2000 block east of State Road 258, west of Seymour, around 5:45 p.m.
The initial investigation has revealed that Hannah M. Reedy, 19, of Seymour was traveling eastbound on State Road 258 when she lost control of her maroon 2017 Toyota Camry. After losing control Reedy’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck a red 1993 GMC Sonoma pickup truck, head-on, traveling westbound driven by Michael J. Carpenter, 18, of Freetown.
Reedy and her passenger, Isaac C. Moore, 19, of Seymour were treated by Jackson County
EMS and transported to Schneck Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Reedy and
Moore were later released.
Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office. The
Indiana State Police responded to reconstruct the accident. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
