Columbus officially opened the holiday season with an all-day festival Saturday culminating with the Festival of Lights Parade downtown.

A variety of activities were offered before the parade, including free photos with Santa and a nonprofit showcase at The Commons, 300 Washington St., and a Santa’s Workshop vendor market on Fourth Street downtown.

The parade, featuring vehicles, floats, trailers and more all aglow with holiday lighting began at 6 p.m. with entries traveling south on Brown Street, east on Third Street, north on Washington Street and west on Eighth Street.

The parade was followed by fireworks over the downtown.
