The Columbus Icemen high school hockey team beat the Northern Kentucky Norsemen 7-0. Hunter Durham scored twice, and Ryan Cesarski, Jalan Armstrong, Evan Shaw, Ryan Wirth and Jarad Buchta each had a goal.
1999
Cummins Engine Co. emergency management technician Jim Pridgen raised funds for a project to make Switzerland County’s roads safer for the Amish after reading an article about car and buggy accidents in the area. Led by the Indiana State Police, the project placed reflective strips on 34 horse-drawn buggies.
1974
Columbus native Phil Essex was hired as a graphic artist for the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) in New York City, where he made slides of the names of college and professional athletes that would appear on screen during games.
