The Columbus North girls basketball team defeated Lawrence North 69-40 to advance to the Class 4A state championship. Senior point guard Ali Patberg scored 39 points, hit 14 of her 18 field goal attempts, and nine of her 10 free throws.

Bartholomew County students were asked to name their favorite book during a survey by the National Education Association for its Read Across America website, with titles including “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” by J.K. Rowling and “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss coming out on top.
