Rick Weinheimer, Columbus North High School teacher and coach, was the keynote speaker at the Columbus Human Rights Commission annual dinner. Weinheimer urged those in attendance to step outside their comfort zone and listen to voices that aren’t being heard in Columbus.
2000
Columbus residents voted on two proposals to replace the current city flag, which featured a Spanish crest and the words “Welcome to Columbus.” The winner, which received 888 votes, depicted a multicolored sunrise over the Columbus skyline.
1975
Vincent L. Whalley, head of the Credit Bureau of Columbus, was honored at a dinner meeting at The Commons for his 44 years of service for the company. Whalley purchased the company in 1936.
