Columbus hosted its 10th annual Bike to Work Day as part of a national campaign to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles and the benefits of bike riding. Five departure locations were offered for riders, with breakfast waiting for them upon arriving in town.

2000

Joe Shafran of Columbus filled in for his Regal Rugs boss during the golf portion of the annual Stroud’s American Heart Association Golf-Tennis-Fly Casting Classic near Los Angeles, where he made a hole-in-one and won a new BMW.

1975

The Columbus East baseball team defeated host Whiteland 19-2 with 16 of 19 runs. The Olympians used a 16-hit attack in running their record to 9-6 going into the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.
