Ivy Tech Community College Columbus Chancellor Chris Lowery was named to serve on the board of the Sagamore Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research organization in Indianapolis.

Jim Henderson, former chairman and CEO of Cummins Engine Co., was honored at the Heritage Fund annual meeting for his 11 years of service on the Heritage Fund Board. Henderson was also part of the 1976 committee that developed the idea of a community foundation for Bartholomew County.

Howard Downey was named valedictorian, and Billie Simmons was named salutatorian at Hauser High School. Other students in the top 10 included Bonnie Stapp, Donita Moore, Barbara Land, Ben Flora, Adrian Hayes, Mike Compton, Cyndy Finke and Mary Epperson.
