No. 27 Braves best No. 16 Bull Dogs in battle for conference title

BLOOMINGTON — No. 27 Terre Haute South handed 16th-ranked Columbus North a 4-1 defeat Monday in a match at Bloomington South that decided the Conference Indiana girls tennis championship.

Lucy Bergman beat Jordan Miller 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles for the Bull Dogs (11-6, 4-1).

North’s Aya Saad fell to Sarah Rose 3-6, 6-3, (10-4) at No. 1 singles, and Ayane Umemura lost to Ajah Irish 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Annabelle Sun and Nino Akalaya fell to Jessica Khallabhani and Savannah Semmler 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Grace Conner and Lizzie Bodart lost to Ellie Luken and Anika Gera 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
