A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Mill Race Station Depot to commemorate adding the fifth fixed bus route to Columbus’ system. The station included a route to the west side of the city, the first since the conception of ColumBUS transit.
2000
Betty Boyle of Columbus won Best of Show for her painting during the annual Fair on the Square, that attracted hundreds of visitors despite cold and rainy conditions. Don Chamberlain of Rochester, N.Y. won first in two-dimensional work, and Wayne Harshberger of Goshen won first in three-dimensional work.
1975
Paul N. Dinkins was elected chairman of the board of Irwin Union Bank and Trust Company, and John A. Nash was elected to succeed Dinkins as the bank’s sixth president. The announcement was made my Chairman J. Irwin Miller at a company meeting.
