Ava Bunker is off to a fast start to her 2025 junior girls golf campaign.
Bunker, an Edinburgh resident, already has notched a couple top-10 finishes so far.
Bunker finished at 6-under-par 210 to finish third in the American Junior Golf Association Callaway Junior April 10-13 at Canebrake Club in Athens, Alabama. She finished at 1-under 71 after the first day, then a 5-under 66 on the second day and an even-par 72 on the final day.
Bunker’s other top-10 finish came earlier in the spring at the AJGA Junior at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, Alabama. She finished at 9-over 222 to place seventh . She went 3-over 74 on the first day, 2-over 73 on the second day and 4-over 75 on the final day.
Bunker was the 2022 IHSAA individual champion in girls golf as a freshman when she attended Columbus North. Last summer, Bunker made her college commitment to play at Indiana.
Bunker isn’t finished yet and has a busy summer schedule ahead of her. Some of the notable events coming up include the Dye Junior Invitational June 2-4 in West Lafayette, the Girls Indiana PGA Championship June 5-6 in Muncie, the North and South Junior Amateur Championship June 29-July 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and the Hoosier Women’s Amateur July 29-31 in Bloomington.
Bunker also will look to qualify for the Epson Tour’s Otter Creek Championship, which is June 26-29. The qualifier takes place June 17.
