A Community Memorial Day service was held next to the Bartholomew County Memorial for Veterans, and many gathered in the veterans section of Garland Brook Cemetery to honor all veterans buried there.
2000
A flag that once flew over the U.S. Capital Building was retired after if was flown one last time at Columbus Fire Station 2. The flag was no longer physically suitable to fly, and was preserved by members of the local VFW.

State Sen. Robert Garton gave an address at the Memorial Day ceremony in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. The ceremony was led by Legionnaire Wayne Kellams.
