Makenna McCord
Makenna McCord, Columbus, a student at Taylor University, has joined The Republic newsroom staff this summer as its Hoosier State Press Association intern.
McCord, who is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in professional writing with a minor in multimedia journalism, will be a general assignment intern for The Republic until August.
McCord graduated from Columbus North High School in May 22 and served as the Taylor University school paper The Echo’s co-editor in chief this past year.
As a member of the Hoosier State Press Association, The Republic participates in its competitive intern program in which students pursuing journalism-related degrees may apply to be paired with a newspaper for the summer. Interns from various Indiana universities and colleges are interning at newspapers around the state for the next nine weeks.
