Lincoln Central Neighborhood Family Center will host the first Lunch With a Cause in the summer series on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sarla Kalsi Conference Center. All proceeds will benefit the center’s Angels of Love Christmas Gift Assistance Program.
The first event of the series is themed the classic Rock and Roll Diner, with themed foods including The Rock & Roll Burger, Buddy Holly’s Hot Dogs and more. Baskets with sandwich, fries or onion rings, and a drink are $12. Ala carte items are also available.
The mission behind these events is to help children in the community. Last year alone, the Angels of Love program helped to provide Christmas gifts for around 750 children, said Linda Allman, events coordinator at YES Cinema.
“We’re just excited that the YES Cinema Cafe is hosting this with some of their delicious food to have available for our guests.” Allman said.
Since the YES Cinema cafe outgrew its facilities, the cafe has frequently hosted events and lunches, but this is the first year for a series of lunches for a cause throughout the summer.
They will also host three other lunch events throughout the summer, including the Sizzling Summer BBQ on July 16, New York’s Famous Deli: Kalsi on the Green on Aug. 20 and The Four Jacks Soup and Salad Extravaganza on Sept. 17.
“Any time we can help families and particularly children, that’s always exciting,” said Diane Doup, community outreach with Lincoln Central Neighborhood Center. “YES Cinema is a cinema with a cause, so everything we do helps us to help our neighbors. Getting to provide Christmas gifts makes people feel good.”
