Bartholomew County will offer several cooling station locations this weekend and going into next week as temperatures are expected to have heat indexes over 100 degrees beginning today.
Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St. in Columbus will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Its Hope branch, 635 Harrison St., Hope, is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The Community Engagement Center, 1075 Second St., Columbus, is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. After 5 p.m., Brighter Days, 421 S. Mapleton St., will be available.
There will be no animal crates available and service animals only may be in the buildings.
Food, showers and areas for sleep are not available.
Those visiting these locations are asked to respect the rules of the facility and other individuals in the facility.
