Carla Sue Sarver, 65 of Columbus, IN, was born in Seymour, Indiana on December 9, 1959, to V. Carlene (Booher) Day and Leslie (Les) B Cornett. As a youth, Carla enjoyed spending her time acting, dancing, singing, and broadcast. She attended Columbus East High School before studying at Vincennes University. She was a life long member of First Christian Church of North Vernon and spent her time volunteering in many capacities. She was known as Coach Carla during her time coaching the cheerleaders at Lincoln Elementary, and Mom C during her time volunteering in the Drama department at Columbus East High School. After joining Forever Young at FCC, she began volunteering her time preparing a variety of kits for Christmas Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (OCC) along with other members of her church. Known for her generosity and kindness, Carla looked forward to each holiday, as it provided an opportunity to prepare gift bags and trays for local businesses, preschool, and anyone else she could think of.

Carla Sue was preceded in death by father Leslie Cornett, stepfather Donald Gene Day, parents in law Clint and Kathleen Sarver, grandparents John and Virginia Booher, Isaac (Ike) and Ola Cornett, Alice Fletcher, and is survived by husband Michael Sarver, mother Carlene Day, son Raymound Victor Cornett, daughter Leslie (Austin) Wilson, grandchildren Nathanael, Mercedes, and Virginia, brother L. Brian (Barbara) Cornett, and sister Lisa Ann Trilling, sister in law Barbara (Charles) Badger, stepsister Stephanie (Ray) Shrader, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service for Carla will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Anthony Sweaney officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.

Any donations can be made to Samaritan’s Purse (OCC) and will be mailed on her behalf by the family.
