We have a problem of one party rule in Bartholomew county government. That party is the Republican party.
There are supposed to be checks and balances.
For for the last several years, all we hear about are the discrepancies in the auditor’s office and how they keep on “losing” money. I wonder where it went this time? How did they lose $300,924 cash? Not to mention the fines we as taxpayers have to pay for the penalties they incur.
The township trustee is accused of embezzling over a million dollars and his Republican advisory board didn’t see a thing.
Without checks and balances The only checks the Republicans seem to be writing are the ones they are writing to themselves.
If you want to improve governance, stop supporting one party rule.
The genius of the American system is that we’re supposed to use the political parties to keep an eye on each other. Our system depends on checks and balances — one group to make decisions and another to keep them honest and to make sure they don’t drive us off a cliff.
