Betty J. Saltsman passed from this life July 4, 2025, at The Belmont Health &Rehabilitation in Columbus, Indiana. Born on December 5, 1943, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Basil and Eudora England Fields.

Betty’s journey through life was one of love and partnership, having married her soulmate, William Saltsman Jr., on March 23, 1961. Their union was a source of joy and support until William’s passing on February 6, 2023.

Betty is survived by her loving children, Terena (Forrest) White of Shelbyville, Rick (Erica) Saltsman of Columbus and Tammy Hayes of Franklin; grandchildren, Tom (Shaleah) Ross of Columbus and Mindy Ross of North Vernon; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, William; a grandson, Joey Hayes and ten siblings.

In addition to her role as a devoted wife and mother, Betty was a businesswoman. Alongside her husband, she co-owned Saltsman Printing until their retirement in 2006. Her work ethic and commitment to quality were also evident in her role in food service at Columbus Regional Hospital, where she was known for her kindness and dedication.

Betty’s involvement in the community was marked by her participation in the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 741 and Moose Lodge No. 398. In her leisure time, Betty was an avid fan of the Game Show Network, and her love for working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles was well-known among her family and friends.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. There will be no funeral service. Betty will be laid to rest at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. In memory of Betty, memorial contributions can be made to Keystone Hospice.
