Mr. Maurice W. Shireman, 75, passed from this life Thursday, July 10, 2025, at his home. Maurice was born on October 27, 1949, in Columbus, Indiana, to Paul E. Shireman and Edith Lucille Goetz Shireman.
Maurice was an industrious man, dedicating over 40 years to Cummins Engine Company. His professional life was paralleled by his commitment to civic engagement. As a proud member of the Masonic lodge for an admirable stretch of 40 years, he vested himself in the very fibers of fellowship and community service.
A man of faith, Maurice regularly attended Westside Community Church. His voluntary work as a firefighter with the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department epitomized his stalwart dedication to the safety and well-being of his neighbors.
Maurice also relished the simpler pleasures of life. He was an avid sports fan, whose fervor for local teams like Purdue, Notre Dame, the Colts, and Indiana Pacers knew no bounds. His winters were joyfully spent in Florida, alternating between the sun-washed shores of Marco Island and the bustling community of the Villages.
Maurice is survived by his wife of 30 years Janet L. Delp Shireman, his children Chari (Matt) Hayden of Hebron, IN, Adelaide (Mike) Wetzel of Columbus, Laura (Joe) Green Plainfield, IN and Brett (Marin) Updike of Fishers. Grandchildren, Conner Hayden, Zach Hayden, Willa Wetzel, Lane Wetzel, Casey Stewart, Olivia Green, Reagan Linn and Ella Updike. He is also survived by a niece and two nephews and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mark Shireman.
Following the family’s wishes cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life service is planned for a later date.
