SEYMOUR — Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge in Seymour has announced the installation of a new fishing pier on Lake Linda within the refuge. The project was initiated and partially funded by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society and matched by a Spring Developmental Grant from the Jackson County Visitor’s Center.
The pier is handicap-accessible and may be used by fishermen and bird watchers.
Muscatatuck Wildlife Society is a non-profit organization that hosts wildlife-centered educational programs and activities at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge in Seymour Indiana. Established as Indiana’s first national wildlife refuge in 1966, wildlife society members educate visitors and community members about the over 280 species of migratory birds that call the refuge home.
Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge will host a dedication event for the new pier and an All Things Fishing event on Saturday, Sept. 13. Children can receive free fishing poles while supplies last, donated by the Richart family in memory of Allison Richart.
