United Way of Bartholomew County is inviting county residents to join them in reducing poverty and homelessness at their annual Day of Service and Impact Lunch on Sept. 11.
Two community-wide events, focusing on reducing poverty and making homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring, will be open for everyone to participate in. Day of Service will take place at dozens of locations across the county, bringing local businesses and community members together to volunteer at non-profit organizations on projects that meet critical needs.
Volunteers can register at uwbarthco.org by clicking the “Volunteer” tab once registration opens in the coming weeks.
The Impact Lunch will be held at Amazing Joe’s Grill, 2607 Central Ave. Attendees will enjoy a meal including pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans and a cookie for $20. Everyone attending the Impact Lunch will be entered to win a year of free dinners from Amazing Joe’s.
All proceeds from the lunch support United Way’s campaign to lift 1,000 families out of poverty within 2,000 days and make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring.
“Day of Service and the Impact Lunch is a change for our community to come together and use its strengths to reduce poverty and homelessness in Bartholomew County,” Magen Pillar, Director of Communications and Marketing at United Way of Bartholomew County, said in the release. “Every volunteer and every lunch attendee helps us build a strong social service sector where everyone can reach their full potential.”
Tickets for the Impact Lunch can be purchased at uwbarthco.org under “Impact Lunch” or directly at classy.org/event/united-way-of-bartholomew-county-impact-lunch/e704647. Both 11 a.m. or noon seating options are available.
