Several Bartholomew Brown Jennings (BBJ) track and field athletes came away with hardware at the Area 2 Spring Games in Salem and the State Summer Games in Terre Haute.

At the Area 2 Spring Games, Alexandria Gotoh won gold medals in the women’s 1,500, 400 and 800 meters; and Josh Holley won gold in the men’s 1,500, 400 and 800. Hannah Hart captured gold in her sections of the 100 and 200 and bronze in her flight of the mini javelin. David Parks won gold in his section of the 100 and bronze in his flight of the mini javelin and finished fourth in his flight of the shot put.

Joe Cox won silver in his sections of the 50 and shot put and bronze in his section of the mini javelin. Jerik Hamilton won silver in his flights of the shot put and mini javelin and finished fifth in his section of the 50. Rebecca Hunnicutt won silver in her flight of the standing long jump and bronze in her flight of the softball throw and finished fourth in her section of the 50. Jason Sprague won bronze in his section of the 100 and finished fourth in his flight of the running long jump and fifth in his flight of the shot put.

At the State Summer Games, Holley swept the gold medals in his sections of the the 400, 800 and 1,500. Gotoh won gold in her section the 1,500 and silver in the 400 and 800. Cox won gold in his section of the 50 and finished fourth in his section of the mini javelin and sixth in the shot put. Hamilton won his section of the mini javelin, took bronze in the 50 and finished fourth in his section of the shot put.

Hunnicutt won silver in her sections of the 50 and softball throw. Sprague won silver in his section of the 100 and bronze in the running long jump and took fifth in his flight of the shot put. Parks won bronze in his sections of the 100 and mini javelin and was sixth in his flight of the shot put.
Meanwhile, several BBJ athletes also competed in bocce at the state summer games. Laura Hahn and Sarah Hahn combined to win gold in their division of Unified Doubles.
Marla Smith and Mark Rice captured silver in their division of Unified Doubles. Emma Callahan and Austin Hernandez won bronze in their division, as did Constance Ashpaugh and Louis Fields.
Jacob Taylor and Amanda Moore won silver in Traditional Doubles, as did Danie’L Mize and Brenda Alsop. Krystil Norfrey and Rickie Petro II won bronze in Traditional Doubles.
