Looking Back – July 23

2015

The identities of two people captured in old photos found in the the former Dolly Madison bakery were discovered to be Harold Wirey and his mother, Henrietta Goetz Wirey. The two were uncle and grandmother respectively to longtime Columbus businessman Carl Miller.

2000

An employee celebration was held at ArvinMeritor’s Gladstone Plant, where employees and their families had a chance to get a closer look at Tony Stewart’s special edition NASCAR racer painted in the company’s colors.

1975

The late Preston Schaffer, Floyd Lamberson, the Edinburgh Community Arts Council and the Edinburgh Fire Department were cited with awards during the annual Pride in Edinburgh Dinner. Richard Hahn of Columbus was the guest speaker for the event.
