Looking Back – July 26

Kindergarten teacher Billie Park leads Ellia Shibata though a set of exercises designed to determine a student’s readiness for kindergarten on July 21, 2015, at Richards Elementary.

Foundation For Youth, Family Service, Inc. and Bartholomew County Youth Services launched Columbus’ first Safe Place program, designed to be a safe haven or outlet for children who feel unsafe or unhappy at home. Businesses that expressed interest in the program were marked with a yellow diamond displaying the Safe Place logo.

2000

Columbus Parks and Recreation Department hosted a free Wacky Wednesday Bubbles Galore Party at Donner Park, which included colored bubbles, make-your-own bubble wands, bubble art and human-sized bubbles.

1975

Mary Romine was presented the 1975 Outstanding Livestock Exhibitor trophy and Mike Harper won the Outstanding Beef Herdsman trophy at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair.
